The Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs (FRP Canada) has created a series of multilingual resource sheets for parents about supporting positive child development at home that teachers may find useful for parents of student newcomers, including students from refugee families.
These one-page sheets are available for download and printing. Topics include: building active habits, family routines, supporting children’s play, promoting positive behavior, focusing on the process and not the product, and the importance of reading aloud, storytelling and songs. The resource sheets are available in the following languages: Arabic, Chinese (simplified and traditional), English, French, Hindi, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil and Vietnamese.
